When you become a Christian, Jesus doesn\'t just deal with your history
He also empowers your future
So yes, he cleanses your sin from all your past, but also he gives you this power
This power called resurrection power in Romans 6, or Romans 8 calls it more simply the Holy Spirit
You have that power
Think about that
The same power that created the world and ordered the stars and parted the Red Sea and healed lepers and put life back into the lifeless body of Jesus… We have that power
Today you have that power
You have that new life in your bones and baptism symbolizes that
Here\'s the thing
Some of us expect so little when it comes to salvation
We basically just want three things from God: get out of hell, clean conscience, positive outlook on life
But God wants so much more from you and for you because he has given so much more to you
You have resurrection power flowing through your body
And as weird as this sounds, if you\'re sitting next to a Christian, you\'re sitting next to somebody with that resurrection power
And so here\'s the question I want you to ask yourself this morning, what\'s the most dead and disappointing thing in your life right now
Maybe it\'s a broken relationship that seems hopeless
Maybe it\'s a friend who\'s walked away from the faith
Maybe it\'s a secret sin that\'s been a secret far too long
Maybe it\'s a sadness that you just can\'t shake
I just want to say, whatever that dead and disappointing thing is in your life, I think God wants you to hear this this morning: that change is possible because you have resurrection power
You have the power of God in you and there is nothing broken that God can\'t fix
There is nothing dead He can\'t resurrect
There is nothing corrupt He can\'t sanctify
No addiction He can\'t destroy
No temper He can\'t calm
No pain He can\'t heal
No temptation He cannot overcome
The Bible is literally full of stories about this, about how God uses resurrection power to transform people like Peter, who was a coward, like Paul who was abrasive, like John who was vengeful, like Mary Magdalene who had a past, but the power of Christ in them made them into men and women of incredible power
They changed history, not because they were made of promising material, but because they were filled with resurrection power
