In the Bible, faith usually leads us through the difficulty, not around it. It was Jesus who sent His disciples and Himself into the storm. He knew full well what they were walking into and He sent them anyway. For those stormy moments in life, remember, maybe God has you there for a reason... Maybe there's a purpose for your pain that you can't see. Just because the wind is against you doesn't mean God is against you.

The name of God, "I Am Who I Am", is the name of hope. That name is the answer to a thousand weaknesses and insecurities that we all face all the time. Whatever you are not, "I Am". Whatever you need, "I Am". Whatever you did not receive from your parents, whatever you're not receiving from your marriage, whatever you're not getting from anybody, "I Am." So when life reminds you of everything that you're not, remember the name of God who says, "I Am."

Through these scriptures, we see the problem of sin and death, the gift of salvation and eternal life through Jesus, and the opportunity for anyone to accept this invitation to walk this road that has been so graciously offered to us, undeserving as we are. Storing up treasure in heaven means leveraging your time, talent, and your treasure so that more people know Christ, grow in Christ and are with Christ forever. And Jesus is flipping our view of treasure completely upside down: In the world, we use people to get treasure, but in the church, we use treasure to get people. You might not have cash to make some crazy investment opportunity, but when you invite people to church and you share the gospel with friends and you pray for coworkers and family members, and you make time for life-giving Christ-centered relationships, remember this truth: People are the only treasure you can take with you into eternity.
